Peru Chirinos
Founded in 1968, La Prosperidad de Chirinos is a cooperative of 810 producers in Peru’s San Ignacio Province, growing coffee at around 1,800 meters. Known for its strong focus on quality, the co-op invests in lab facilities and training programs for both staff and farmers.
Chirinos exports about 145 containers annually, with most coffee certified Fair Trade Organic and a growing portion produced by women. In recent years, they’ve focused on showcasing standout micro-lots from small farms, typically 4–5 hectares, where high elevations contribute to the coffee’s bright acidity and complexity.
Beyond coffee, the cooperative supports farmers through land diversification programs, including sheep, guinea pigs, and trout farming helping strengthen both livelihoods and sustainability across the community.
