Colombia Jose Gomez Natural
More than fifty years ago, José Alejandro began his journey in coffee farming, building not just a livelihood, but a legacy rooted in community. Over time, he chose to sell and donate portions of his land to support those around him making space for a school, recreational areas, and even a church.
Today, the farm covers 23 hectares, with 4 hectares dedicated to coffee and the rest preserved as natural forest. A freshwater spring runs through the property, nourishing both the surrounding ecosystem and the coffee processing.
Now led by his son, Humberto Gómez a survivor of his country’s armed conflict the farm continues to evolve with a strong focus on quality and sustainability. Humberto has introduced a new wet mill and drying facility, improving both capacity and consistency, while continually exploring new ways to refine their approach and protect the land.
Driven by curiosity and passion, Humberto has also begun experimenting with Pink Bourbon, producing a coffee with delicate dried red fruit notes and an elegant, aromatic profile. Alongside this, the team has developed extended, controlled fermentations for their washed Castillo and Caturra lots, resulting in cups that are fruity, complex, and full bodied.
With each harvest, the Gómez family carries forward a deep commitment to craft, community, and the land producing coffees that reflect both their history and their vision for the future.
