Organic Sumatra Rahmat Kinara Mandheling Fair Trade Grade 1

Organic Sumatra Rahmat Kinara Mandheling Fair Trade Grade 1

We are delighted to introduce Organic Sumatra Rahmat Kinara Mandheling Fair Trade Grade 1 coffee from the Aceh province of Sumatra—a unique wet-hulled bourbon blend. This exceptional coffee offers a luscious harmony of brown sugar, cranberry, and dark chocolate, with a subtle blackberry jam that lingers on the palate with a smooth body.

Deep-rooted tradition shapes life in Aceh, a region renowned for its exceptional cup profiles and traditional Indonesian coffee cultivation methods. Here, coffee is grown on small family farms averaging less than three acres. The Gayonese ethnic group, who reside in these farms, maintain a traditional village lifestyle, with even their homes resembling ships. Remarkably, 70% of these farmers are women, whose livelihoods depend on coffee to support their families.

At the heart of this endeavor lies the Rahmat Kinara Cooperative, representing nearly 1,200 dedicated coffee producers. The cooperative plays a crucial role in overcoming the challenges of small-scale farming by managing local warehouses and transportation. Farmers deliver wet-hulled coffee to the cooperative, where it undergoes meticulous drying and dry-milling before promptly reaching the international market. This process ensures consistent quality, reliable earnings, and a brighter future for the producers.
